*! - I use Zonealarm Pro, which is what that flash demo is demonstrating, ZoneAlarm costs about fifty dollars a
year with updates, but is well worth it, it also comes with spyware weeding software, so there is no need for an application like "Ad-Aware",
"Spybot Search & Destroy" or "Spyware Doctor".

    [YouTube-ified Playlists]

(9/23/07 12:16 AM): Working on another little piece of javascript code, a bookmarklet, that turns every link on a page in youtube into a link to chann3lz, so that people can watch youtube stuff in chann3lz, or people can add a page of links from youtube to chann3lz.. And so on.. I found all these great commentaries of people of history and thought, this would be cool to add to chann3lz's documentary section, but I didn't want to go around, clicking on links and saying "add to chann3lz" and so on.. So this bookmarklet is almost completely written.. Actually I have it now so it creates links to chann3lz.. I haven't tried it for all cases, but for the basic case it seems to work well..

BTW, that Antone guy in DIG reminds me of Phil Spector.. I wonder how closely related great musicians are to mental illness.. He seems kind of schizophrenic paranoia, like in parts of the movie he is like saying "the police, they are coming to kill me.." .. Then on top of all this he has something like autism, an intense concern for perfection, for order, and throws a fit when everything is not absolutely perfect.. This could be seen as being a brat, or being arrogant, but it's probably the case that it tears at his soul when something isn't right, and he explodes in the direction of the stimulus.. His way of solving problems is by beating the crap out of people, or yelling at them.. It's also possibly the case that his drug use, such as cocaine, made be extremely agitated by imperfection. I have a english teacher who was alleged to take cocaine, someone found a vile in her desk.. And I can remember up to that point, she had all the kids in our class drawing 10,000 frames to be scratched, later onto baclk-exposed film.. Note a 10,000 frame movie, and 10fps, is about 1000 seconds or about 15+ minutes of footage.. Then to deal with the impossibility of satisfying his expectations, he'd take heroine to escape from himself and his own demands, and ensuing demands of others, on himself.. His music, his creativity, was how he justified his screwd-upped-ness.. It's how he would build back his self-esteem.. I suppose if he didn't have that, it would be something else.. He's replace god with himself, because he doesn't believe in god, and says such things just to insense others and so to say "piss them off". God his who you acknowledge with the crap hits the fan.. It usually takes a life-threatening occurence to acknowledge that one is not the center of the universe.. But in any case, whether one believes in god or not, for someone like Antone, I'd assume that he thinks his talent succeeds everyone else, because it has to (he has no hope of having any value for himself unless he is..), then once everyone realizes he supremacy, he takes a bunch of drugs to cope with the down of not being able to keep peoples attention and respect. It's kind of like "look at me, ook what I can do".. Then everyone is happy, he's happy.. And then everyone goes back to doing what they want and he goes into a spiral of depression and drug use, and self doubt, but something tells him.. You have to keep on showing these people who you are, or else you might as well die. Or something of this sort.. Either he replies to it with taking drugs, or over-powering people, trying to win love, and so on, anything to satisfy this long to be acknowledged as genius.. Of course, if nobody considered he was a genius, he'd either die, or strive to "Show them".. I am not sure where the cycle can be broken, but I figure, he could be taken off the drugs, put on some mood supressants, and put in a community of people who do things outside his "comfort zone". He might realize that he can do other things, well, and that music is not his only talent.. But you'd really have to know someone like this, to help them get out of the cycle.. The fear that drives it all, and it is a fear, a fear of falling, or of starting again, of not achieving ones expectations.. Probably another reason why he picked on everyone was augmented by an agitation and need to progress, due to pressure.. Maybe his perception of people's expectations of him are not accurate.. Maybe if others affirmed to him their expectations of him, and their tollerances, maybe even writing down, somewhere, a process they go through to get something done, maybe books on how to interact with others, from people he knows, maybe he will build a better cocept of others around him.. Well I'm no psychologist, just am trying to put puzzle pieces together from what I know of my own problems, which deal with processing sound.. I've been known to get extremely frustrated with people when two people are expecting me to respond to two questions, fed at the same time.. Or if I'm working on the computer, the expectation that I should shift my focus and think about discerning words.. I mean, it actually takes some brain power for me to consider what people are saying, and translate this into information.. I prefer to be on the computer because it is patient, it will let me manipulate stuff until I'm satisfied, and it's not impatient with me.. I'm sure in some ways, I'm like Antone.. But we are all a bit screwed up in some way.. Just most people know how to cover up for their failures, how to deal with shortcomings and beg forgiveness and such.. If you have a great pride in your ability above everyone else, it's tougher understand others, and understand others understanding of yourself, and so on.. It's the mote in your own eye, so to say..

(9/22/07 5:04 PM): I saw the movie DIG, about The Brian Jamestown Massacre and the Dandy Warhols. And the only words that come to mind are "The Spectacle of bleeding people.. " Well if I was clever, maybe that would go somewhere.. But it's one of those movies showing the juxtaposition (as is everything in art is some sort of juxtaposition, okay I'm trying to sound clever again, shoot me, well juxtaposition is nothing but contrast).. Anyhow, the justaposition of true success and the delusion of success hiding hateful jealousy, the humility and the hyperbole.. As it is said in the bible, those who take the least prominent seat will be exhalted and those who take the most prominent seat will be humbled.. However in this case, the one being humbled hides his humility in arrogance. I know the feeling, and the atmosphere is familiar, I was in New York about the same time as when all this was going on, I suppose.. I've seen at least one person in this video personally, I attended a showing of "Better living through Chemistry" in Al Pacino's personal theatre in Chelsea, above his bar.. It was a funny experience because everyone there was in the movie, except for us.. That was a great raver movie.. But I don't know if I would want to be in the room with Antone.. I'm big enough guy I probably could take the abuse, but he doesn't seem scarey, just abusive.. I need a spell checker for my blog.. Well I suppose if I ever get to be 90, I'll still be talking like I was in New York yesterday because I cherish all my special opportunities, probably too much.. I'm an introvert who got to see what it is like to be extroverted for a sliver of my life.. I doubt an extrovert would cherish the opportunity of being introverted.. Introversion as far as Christianity is concerned, is bad.. Well shyness is bad, but isn't that introversion.... Interversion, who the heck cares, everyone knows what I mean..

(9/22/07 11:08 AM): You've probably noticed that some videos are still getting repeated, I don't know why that is.. I may need to put some probes in to see what is causing that, but I think somehow some videos are not getting marked off, after being played..

    (FULLSCREEN)

Catchy stuff.. Surf punks, I suppose.. Looks like Coney Island.. Or black pool, or one of those places..

    (FULLSCREEN)

My parents were getting a divorce in the 70's, this song was among the songs that took my mind off things.. I think I escaped into the radio, until MTV came to the world.. But the world of Radio in the late 70s, it was the only thing really interesting about the 70's.. I never really understood what the punk movement was, it was more of a fight against the artist grinders that they became, denying every group the opportunity to be heard.. Something that is not so much of a problem these days.. But this song I read was about Busking in England, which is essentially what the Beatles were doing atop that roof in the early 70s. It was in effect, I think, a protest for the ability to be heard, musically, speech, whatever.. I don't know the brits, but this is probably why punk rock was so popular there during the 70s. But Gerry Rafferty, though he got the record contracts, from the time him and his brother did Steelers-"Stuck in the middle with you"-Wheels and so on. He probably spent years trying to get heard.. I've heard similar with Level 42, who travelled to London thinking that they would make it big time, and were disappointed.. Now we know with Youtube, it's tough to get everyone heard, people don't have that many ears or eyes.. But you can at least find your niche.. Thomas Dolby says that he's happy with being this one-hit wonder but now less famous (from his DVD), he gets instant responses to his playing on the forums.. He said that it used to be the case he'd come home from a concert and would wonder about the success of that nights concert, probably concerned about his performance, if some mistake he made distubred the audience or if nobody spotted it, and probably what he did that was right.. The record companies are still just as deaf as they've been, to the music, it's a business.. But at least the musicians have a democracy finally, they can do their own marketing, plan tours, etc.. with or without the approval of the record industry.. Busk Busk Busk..

    (FULLSCREEN)

Now you know what became of Froggy or at least his grandson..

    (FULLSCREEN)

I don't know what illness I have, but it's making my throat sore.. I have only two allergens, dust mites and grasses, nothing else.. I think this is Dust mites kicking me.. Anyhow, I love these videos of people trying new ways of playing guitars..

    (9/22/07 5:16 AM):
    (FULLSCREEN)

This was my most favorite Queen album, The Game.. That was the one that "Another One Bites the Dust" came on, the whole album is a work of art.. Best to get the LP version, I think I stared at the album forever.. I got it for Xmas, I think.. That was the year I got my first Ghetto Blaster.. The Panasonic Platinum, the same one that Earth Wind and Fire advertised..

    (FULLSCREEN)

I'm the ultimate sicko, I'm sick as a dog.. No Pun intended.. Sore throw, somewhere at the back of the nasal cavity.. I might as well be beheaded.. My mind lives on, but I'm dead watching chann3lz, without the body to control..

    (FULLSCREEN)

where do these videos come from??

    (9/22/07 5:05 AM):
    (FULLSCREEN)

I have never seen anything so cruel in all my life.. Whoever thought up this one is one real sicko.. This is getting trashed.. I let it go by, and thought.. I'm a sicko to leave this on.. It's trash.. Unfortunately there is no way to really permanently remove it.. It will be in the trash pile.. This is like the video where someone fed like 200 dogs at the same time.. At some chateau.. I'd like to shoot those rich sickos for feeding dogs like that.. Dogs should be out running around.. Catching frisbees.. This reminds me a little bit of that movie from the 70s where these guys figure out how to capture peoples souls and put them away in a container, so their bodies continue to live on.. I'd like to know the name of that movie.. The 70s was so full of crazy scarry movies.. Stuff you'd see late at night on channel 11 in Ft. Worth, where I grew up, at 2 in the morning.. Like that TV show, like ripley's believe it or not, that Leonard Nimoy would narrate...

    (9/22/07 4:34 AM):
    (FULLSCREEN)

    This is so sobberingly funny..

    (9/21/07 2:56 PM):
    (FULLSCREEN)

Clip 1 of this brawl in Albuquerque that was covered in the news.. And to think there is a prison in Downtown Albuquerque.. You'd think the police would waste no time getting to the event..

    (FULLSCREEN)

This is why you shouldn't purchase a downtown Albuquerque apartment.. Note, all the time I was living in Manhattan, about two years, I never, never ever saw anything like this.. But I've heard for years how bad it has been..

    (FULLSCREEN)

    And in step the police..

    (FULLSCREEN)

This is what people usually find when searching for "Albuquerque Fight"... I think I'd rather them publicize the Albuquerque street brawl..

    (9/21/07 11:19 AM):
    (FULLSCREEN)

    Cute kid...

    (FULLSCREEN)

Someone and their analog synth.. You can get a Commodore 64 to make sounds like this without much work.. Ring modulation is commonly use to make ethnic sounds like clunks and clanging glass bottles and such, this is what came before we had sample playback....

    (9/20/07 12:53 AM):
    (FULLSCREEN)

Cool jet movie on chann3lz.. Put to music..

    (FULLSCREEN)

    Karen Carpentar could play drums??

    Love this video!!!

    (9/17/07 1:51 PM):
    (FULLSCREEN)

Recent Interview (I guess) with A-ha.. I like this music video at the beginning..
    (FULLSCREEN)

Another one of those 80s videos.. Actually they are showing Carter, its a 70s video.. Pre-80s, wow..
    (FULLSCREEN)

New video cliche, well it's not cliche yet, it will be..

(9/13/07 1:28 PM): Apple is now trying to sell a version of their iPhone without the phone part. It's the same multi-touch interface as the iPhone, and has builtin wireless capability, but it is nothing really, more, than a zune with a 50% profit margin. It's probably costing Apple 150 dollars to make the iTouch. They have a tendencey to overprice their products, I suspect the iPhone was overpriced by about 300% markup, and then they dropped the 4GB iPhone, and reduced the 8GB one to 400 dollars.. Now their 8GB iTouch is 300 dollars. If it is a 100% markup, the real price of the iPhone is 200 dollars and the iTouch is 150 dollars.. That means they could lower the iTouch to 200 dollars, and still have a 33% margin. You can survive on that.. Just that if you are popular enough, which Apple has about shot with their recent manipulations, you can pull just about any pricing scheme.. When people saw that in China someone was making something similar to the iPhone, that also had an effect of consumer awareness.. Look you are not saving American jobs by having Apple stoop lower to satisfy the market, they make the dang things in China anyhow. It probably costs them even less to make the phones, possibly even 120 dollars.. I mean look at the Insignia mp3 player, look at the T9, these are roughly similar products, and they are selling for around 100 dollars.. The nano sells for 150 to 200 and it doesn't even have video playback options like the T9. And Apple makes their products in China.. This is why I don't touch the iPod's or other Apple products, because they are making a killing, and they have too great a profit margin. I don't pay a 300% markup for fantastic design, I can hire a few product design experts for that.. All they have is a touch screen, lcd screen, a thin L-ion battery, a risc processor that can handle video and audio decompression and playback, and about 8GB of memory.. That's probably not flash memory, as the device is a bit big. It could be chip memory. You know, the chip memory is probably the reason why the iTouch could cost more.. I mean considering that a 1GB stick for a laptop can sell for about 30 dollars.. At the very least 8GB would sell for about 120 dollars. So maybe they are justified in the price.. Maybe they are just trying to push product to reduce their losses. Still I think the iTouch could come down in price, probably to 250.. Or make it like an iPod and bring it down to 160 dollars.. The hard drive in the iPod can't possibly make that much of a difference in cost, hard drives are cheaper to fabricate, per gig. They probably just don't want anyone to know that, I mean if they were to come out with a 200 dollar iTouch, that would make the iPod owners feel bad, but it would allow apple to push a lot of product.. It may also be the case that the iPhone's form factor, which iTouch has, doesn't allow for a mini hard drive.

Anyhow, I'm holding out on getting an Apple product, the iTouch is coming close, but no cigar.. I like the ability to use wi-fi access points.. Now if, only if, there was an Ubuntu based mp3/mp4 player, with a running copy of linux with email, firefox, and other components on it, selling for about 160 dollars, I'd consider going out to purchase that, but if it sold for 130 dollars, that would be a steal.. The touch screen would be nice, but it's not needed.. Maybe other people are wowed by "spielbergesque" touch navigation, but you could get that with a small touch pad from a laptop without oiling up the screen.

Hey, I should probably be on Cranky Geeks.. Ha!

(9/13/07 9:53 AM): Well I got Ubuntu Gutsy Tribe 4 _ _ Linux installed on the Toshiba Satelite A135-227 _ _ that I purchased several months ago. What I had done was deinstalled Vista because I was having permission problems and the DVD content was skipping on me with the supplied 512MB of ram that came with the laptop. I had actually installed an extra 512MB, but it's coming up in the memory readings as 800MB, I think I blew a chip.. Anyhow, I deinstalled Vista, then installed XP. But was upset that Toshiba didn't include any drivers for XP on their site. I went to Youtube and expressed my disastisfaction with a video entitled Toshiba Sucks _ _. Someone in the comment area told me it wasn't a problem with Toshiba, but that Microsoft had discouraged all the vendors/manufacturers from supporting XP, that they should burn the bridge. But Toshiba had a choice.. Anyhow, since I did the video, people have found drivers for XP on this laptop, and I'm now writing this message on the very laptop, in Ubuntu Linux, Gutsy, Tribe 4. I just watched a DVD and have been watching chann3lz on the laptop. I wasn't able to get Art Rage 2 _ _ running in Wine, and for some reason the headphone port doesn't work.. But sound works, it plays dvd's, I can download video with democracy tv, I can run a web browser on it, what more do you need.. Of course Ubuntu comes with OpenOffice, so getting a word processor is not a problem.. It doesn't easily play games, making it perfect for a productivity machine. I didn't install the updates that the machine is nagging me to get, because I had installed it several times before, and it failed with Tribe 5 of Gutsy, and it failed after I downloaded and installed the updates, so I disabled the updates search.. I probably won't touch updates for another month or so, until Gutsy is supported.. By that time I hope that more bugs on this laptop are ironed out.

It's funny, back when the Linux craze was in full swing _ _, Toshiba supported linux on the Libretto's _ _.. I guess they just go wherever the wind takes them.. But they do not know where it is going.

BTW, I'm going to see if I can install Windows XP too, if not on another partition, within a Innotek Virtualbox _ _ sitting atop Gutsy.

    Gnnnarrrrrrly!! Dude!!

It's pretty easy for me to get past the fact that it is a guy singing..

    Cool song..

    (FULLSCREEN)

Country pop rock, like offspring of 38 Special
    (FULLSCREEN)

The original "Black Betty".. Note, on Coverville there is a "Originalville", and it isn't the April Fools joke from last April.. It's the first real Originalville.. Some pretty suprising songs, but I knew about Prince's "I Feel For You", which I almost like better than Chaka Kahn's version..

    (9/01/07 6:38 PM):
    (FULLSCREEN)

Would have been cool if they had continued this to the entire length of the song, I think U2 would have dug it..
    (FULLSCREEN)

    Redneck Acapella..

I still think they should have gotten the Oakridge Boys to sing the missing bass part, "I surrender all".. "I surrender all".. This is a hugely popular CoC song.. Probably from southern baptists.. I dunno.. I've attended church for such a long time that I can't listen to a "studio" version without hearing the original.. Same happens when I sing a Amy Grant retrofitted into a acapella church song.. CoC's (Church of Christ) don't believe in instrument assisted music, but it's perfectly okay for people who can't sing to sing, it's challenging, but I accept the challenge to retain harmony despite (makes my sense of pitch stronger when I have someone next to me singing out of tune).. I have a tendency to make my own parts for songs which keeps them from becoming stale.. I think this is probably why most modern church services don't pass out sheet music, because some people find arrangments that are not in the sheet music.. Though some who can't improvise get totally lost.. But given that it doesn't matter if you sing out of key, it's perfectly okay..

On the topic of church music, this started out sounding like "Blue Skies and Rainbows".. A popular "youth group" song..

Rappin Rodney.. A fairly familiar song from the mid 80s..

I wonder if this is their song.. Sounds professional to me.. I think it is their song.. Very catchy and memorable..

What makes this video cool is it is playing backwards.. Meaning they recorded it performing backwards, walking backwards, saying words backwards (meaning they probably had to rehearse it a bunch of times, recording it a ton of times, then picking the best take).. Just one of the freedoms of having cheap media, but time consuming.. Makes me wonder how many times "Say Go" had to do their treadmill choreography before they got it right, and when it became popular how many times they had to rehearse it until it became second nature, so they could perform it on request...
